July 4th Parade Prep, Parent Meeting, & Summer Schedule

This Saturday, June 30th, all current and incoming Band and Color Guard students will be preparing for the Mira Mesa 4th of July Parade.

Students need to be in the MMHS Band Room (Room 404) by 8:00am. Please wear shorts, comfortable shirts, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bring lots of water. We will end rehearsal at 11:30am and have a BBQ with all parents and families.

Parents, please plan on coming to school towards the end of our rehearsal at 11:30am. We will have an informational meeting from 12:30 to 1:30pm in the Band room after our BBQ.

Graduation & Disneyland

Congratulations to all of the Sapphire Sound Band and Color Guard seniors who will be graduating tomorrow!  We wish you all well in your new journey ahead.  Graduation begins at 5:00pm, but all Band members grades 9-11 will need to be in "nice attire" at 3:30pm to help set up on the field.  Gentlemen need to wear slacks, dark socks, dark dress shoes, shirt and a tie.  Ladies need to wear a dress (with a minimum of short sleeves), or a skirt and blouse, and flats or sandals that are flat.  Graduation will take about 2 hours, so please plan on picking up your band member at school around 7:30pm.

We are heading up to California Adventure Park this Sunday morning and performing inside the park at 9:30am.  Students need to be at school by 6:13am to pick up their instrument and load the bus.  The cost is $30 a student to help cover the transportation costs.  Students need to arrive in full concert dress attire and have a small bag with their Class B shirt, shorts or pants, jacket, and comfortable shoes for later in the day.  All food and souvenirs are the responsibility of the student.  We will not be eating together as a group this time.  The student admission for Sunday is only to CA Adventure and not Disneyland.

Chaperones who have been designated by Mrs. Christensen will also need to be at school by 6:13am and will be assigned to one of the two busses.  All other adults wishing to go will need to make their own arrangements for transportation and tickets.  Discounted tickets to CA Adventure Park only may still be available for this Sunday at a rate of $71.  I will call tomorrow about this.  Please email me by Wednesday morning before noon if you are interested.  A call time sheet for Sunday will be handed out to the students tomorrow after graduation.  Please take a look at the times to be at school and the return time which is scheduled for approximately 11:30pm.

Last evening was the "A Taste of Music" concert for the Sapphire Sound. The event was very well attended, so thank you for supporting our groups! Also, a BIG thank you to everyone who helped volunteer! We would not have been able to run the event without you!
