Week of March 25-29, 2013

First, a BIG "Thank You!" to everyone who helped to make this past weekend a successful one.  From the conclusion of the musical, to the Color Guard who performed and competed Saturday and Sunday, it was a busy weekend.  Congratulations to the JV team for their 4th place finish at Del Norte HS.  Also, congratulations to the Varsity team for placing 2nd at USD in the finals!  Well done!

Here's the schedule this week:

• Monday - Candle fundraiser still going through Thursday
• Tuesday - Jazz Band
• Wednesday - Taste of Mira Mesa at GenProbe.  Jazz Band, Sax Quartet, and Clarinet Quartet
• Thursday - Candle fundraiser ends.  Parent Meeting at 7:00pm.
• Friday - No School.  Start of Spring Break! (March 29 - April 5)

Busy Weekend

We have a busy weekend in the Sapphire Sound program:

• Tonight (Friday) - "Les Mis" musical at 7:00pm.  Call time 6:00pm for musicians.
• Saturday - WGI Regional for Color Guard at the University of San Diego - all day
• Saturday - "Les Mis" musical performances at 2:00pm and closing night at 7:00pm. Call times are one hour before the performances.
• Sunday - WGI Regional for Color Guard at the University of San Diego - 7:30am-6:00pm

Thank you to all who will be volunteering at USD, driving judges, watching groups warm-up and perform this weekend!  We are hosting some of the best teams in the state and from out of state.  All of your support is greatly appreciated.

Schedule for the Week of March 18-24, 2013

Here's the schedule for this week:

• Monday - Set up for musical performance after school.
• Tuesday - Fox 5 News in the morning for the musical.  Will air segments at 5:40am, 6:40am, 7:30am, 8:30am, 9:00am.
• Tuesday - 6:30pm - Festival Concert in the MMHS Theatre with Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestras. $5 donation at the door.
• Wednesday - Let "The Boss Lady Have A Life Day" - everyone go home after school. :-)
• Thursday - "Les Mis" performance at 6:00pm
• Friday - "Les Mis" performance at 7:00pm
• Saturday - "Les Mis" performances at 2:00pm and 7:00pm
• Saturday - Color Guard Competition at USD - Shifts at 8:30am-1:00pm, 12:30-4:30pm, 4:00-8:30pm
• Sunday - Color Guard Competition at USD - Shifts at 7:30am-1:00pm, 12:30-6:00pm

"Les Miserables" Opening Weekend

The Performing Art Department of Mira Mesa HS is proud to present the musical "Les Miserables".  There are 57 actors, 31 pit orchestra musicians, and numerous others behind the scenes helping to make this the largest musical production Mira Mesa has ever done.  For ticket information and dates, visit the Mira Mesa Theatre Website. Wind Ensemble and Concert Band Pictures Friday

This is a reminder that all Wind Ensemble and Concert Band members need to bring their concert attire with them to school on Friday for their group pictures.  Pictures will be taken during the class period.

CONGRATULATIONS x2!!

A big CONGRATULATIONS to all 37 of the Mira Mesa HS Band and Orchestra students who performed in the San Diego Unified School District's Honor Concert last night at Copley Symphony Hall.  It was a great concert!  Well done.

Also, our second CONGRATULATIONS goes to Mr. Mulvaney for being selected as this year's High School Instrumental Music Teacher for the school district.  This honor is well deserved, so please give him your congratulations when you see him next.

• Friday - Blue & Gold Rally (during school), Honor Band and Orchestra Rehearsal 3:30-5pm and 6-9pm, Blue & Gold Dance 8-11pm in the Gym
• Saturday - Color Guard Tournament 10am-10pm, Honor Band and Orchestra Rehearsal 8-10am (band), 10:30am-11:30pm (full orchestra), 10:30am-12:30pm (strings only) - Honor Concert Call time at Copley Symphony Hall - Band 4pm, Orchestra 5pm, CONCERT 7pm (free)
