Week of 12/17/12
As we head into this final week of school before our two-week break, I'd like to thank all of the parents, students, and staff for a wonderful fall marching season. Without everyone's support and participation, we would not be the Sapphire Sound family. Our group is made up of 165 students all of whom are individuals, but understand how to work as one.
This is a sobering week as we reflect on the families that have faced tragedy in Connecticut. Let's remember to give one another a smile, a kind word, and be thankful for who we are and what we have here in Mira Mesa.
Our schedule for this week is the following:
* Monday - Secret Santa/Friend begins
* Tuesday - Choral Concert at MMHS at 7pm in the auditorium
* Wednesday - Challenger MS Band Concert at 6pm & Wangenheim MS Band Concert at 7pm
* Thursday - nothing! :-)
* Friday - Band performs around campus & annual "Breakfast of Champions" - period 1 & 2
All instruments need to go home over the winter break, so please make arrangements with your student to help transport home the large instruments on Thursday or Friday.

It's time for Music and Fundraising!!!
If you read the last blog about trying to register for the fall show and completed that, then thank you. If you had any difficulties then don't worry. We can make sure you are counted for by coming to Music Camp in the Band Room this Wednesday through Friday from 6-9pm. Just bring your instrument (or come and we will issue you one), a pencil, and a water bottle. Music Camp is designed to get us all playing together and get us looking at the fall music before next week.
Parents, as you are dropping off your student, please come in the Band Room tomorrow (Wednesday) for a meeting from 6-6:30pm about this weekend's fundraiser. The fundraiser is a simple one, but we need as many of you to come hear about it Wednesday.
Remember to tell your friends, sons, and daughters that it is indeed time to be at school this week and next! Bring on the music!
