It's HOME TOURNAMENT week!

This is a very important week in the Mira Mesa HS Band and Color Guard program.  It's our 20th Annual Band Review and Field Tournament this Saturday, November 3, 2012.  We need every household to participate by volunteering your time to make our event a memorable one for the 35 guest bands coming.

Our Cherrydale Farms fundraiser along with Dudley's Bread orders are ready to be picked up at tonight's Parent Booster Meeting at 7:00pm.  Many items need to be delivered immediately, so please do not leave any orders in the Band Room tonight.

      • Uniforms crew / Pit / Line - 11:30am
      • Call Time (Hair done already) - 11:45am
      • Field Rehearsal @ MMHS - 12:00-2:00pm
      • Bus to Poway HS - 3:15pm
      • Dinner provided - 4:00pm
      • To Official Warm Up - 5:30pm
      • Performance - 6:30pm
      • Awards - 8:30pm
      • Bus back to MMHS - 9:00pm
      • Unload (All Students) - 9:30pm
      • Estimated Dismissal - 10:00pm
  • Students are dismissed after everything is unloaded
and Mrs. Christensen has released from the band room.

Info for the Week of October 15-20, 2012

There is a busy week coming up, so please take a look at the following schedule:

  • Monday - Parade Rehearsal from 2:45-4:00pm.  Brass Ensemble 4:30-6:00pm
  • Tuesday - ALL-HANDS PARENT & STUDENT MEETING for our 20th Annual Field Tournament at 6:30pm - Band Room.  This is a VERY important meeting, so I am requesting every household have a parent/guardian present at it along with the students. The meeting will last one hour.
  • Tuesday - Dudley's Bread Fundraiser orders due by the ALL-HANDS Meeting.
  • Wednesday - PSAT Testing at school for 10th and 11th graders, periods 2-4.  Sectionals 2:30-4:00pm.
  • Thursday - Night Rehearsal 5:00-9:00pm.  Progress Report Cards issued during school.
  • Friday - Possible music rehearsal from 2:45-3:45pm.  Prep uniforms for Poway at 4:00pm.
  • Saturday - Poway HS Field Tournament.  It's time to start our marching season in competition!  Call time sheets will be available in the Band Room by Wednesday.  Buses depart at 3:15pm, so call time will be at 2:00pm with Equipment, DL, Front Ensemble, and Guard at school by 1:30pm.  
Thank you to all for your support of the Sapphire Sound!  Come support your students on Tuesday at the meeting and again on Saturday at Poway HS for our first competitive performance.

Rainy Day Rehearsal

It is possible rain will be coming into San Diego on Thursday, but we will still have Night Rehearsal from 5-9pm.  For heavy rain, we will rehearse music indoors.  Any other weather will be the judgment of the staff as to the group going outside.  Either way, please plan on having a poncho for this marching season that can be kept in a backpack or at school.

Homecoming Game Friday

The Homecoming Game Friday starts at 6:30pm.  All Band and Color Guard will meet in the Band Room at 4:30pm and be ready to change into Class A Uniform.  Uniform Crew's call time is 4:00pm. Band needs to wear black t-shirts, athletic shorts, black socks and marching shoes.  Girls need to have their hair done before 4:30pm.  Color Guard wear all black (same as last week).

Uniform Sizing Tuesday

Tuesday after school, all band students will get into Class A uniform to check that all alterations are correct.  Please bring athletic shorts and t-shirts to try-on uniforms.
